First Ice Cream

Mackenzie had her first ice cream cone today, it was Cotton Candy from Baskin Robins, I had yummy Pistachio Almond. Anyways, I just wanted to share the picture with everyone, because it’s too cute!

Also, today I weighed in at Weight Watchers (I’m trying to get to my pre-Mackenzie size), and I’ve already lost 11 lbs! I’m so excited about it, and it feels good to finally start to fit into some of my “normal” clothes.

It’s been a long time since I’ve updated my blog, and uploaded pictures of Mackenzie. Well here’s Mackenzie’s updated pictures, click on the pictures to view each of the albums. Mackenzie is now able to sit up from laying down, she’s crawling backwards (been going on a few weeks now) but not forwards, and she loves to go to the park and swing in the “big girl” swing.

February 2009

March 2009

April 2009

I decided to make a huge decision that would effect all of us. Mackenzie and I moved to Iowa in mid February, while Dan stayed in Seattle. I needed more support than I was getting, and living in Renton wasn’t helping with me being able to get out more. We are planning a trip to see Dan’s family in California in July, and Dan is going to make the trip too, so we can all be together. We miss everyone in Seattle very much, and hope to have a trip out there in the fall to visit.

Right now I am working on a large project of organizing and planning Des Moines’ first Swap-O-Rama-Rama. This has been lots of work, but I believe that the swap will be successful, and I’d like to work on having anual or semi-anual swaps. The event runs purely off of donations and volunteers, so if you would like to do either please let me know by sending me an email.

Another update is that I am now selling Mary Kay to be able to support myself while being able to stay home with Mackenzie. If you are interested in holding a skincare class, color party, or even an online web party to earn free Mary Kay products, let me know, I’d be happy to get together with you. Email me or check out my website to make an order or just play around with the Virtual Makeover tool.

Mackenzie is now 6 months old, it’s crazy how fast she is growing. She had her second trip to Iowa in early January. The two of us were there just in time to make it to my mom’s birthday dinner. Mackenzie has picked up a few new tricks and a few changes:

  • high fives
  • rolling over to get across the room
  • sitting up all by herself
  • a new tooth (3 total on the bottom)
  • eating solid foods (favorites include carrots and pears)

Here are links to our two newest photo albums, don’t forget to check them out and view all the pictures!

Iowa Trip – January
1/12 to 1/28

A few other things to share:

  • I’ve completed a website, check it out here and let me know what you think. I designed it and put the entire thing together in about a weeks worth of time. I’m looking at making webdesign my main focus other than Mackenzie.
  • Karen has created a blog for her trip to India, check it out here
  • I’ve also purchased my own domain name, and I’m working on getting my website up, feel free to check it out to see what’s going on with it. Right now it just says coming soon, but hey whatever
From Mackenzie November/December

Today Mackenzie met Santa she loved him during the pictures then all of a sudden she flipped. I love this picture! Her second tooth came in today another exciting thing. And feel free to click on the link to check out the entire album.

Four months is also one third of a year. So my baby is now 1/3 year old, crazy way of thinking of it.

Mackenzie’s new stats:
weight: 15 lbs 8.3 oz
height: 25.5 inches

I’ve found a great new website for selling my items. I like it better than etsy because, they plant trees for items being listed. I still have my etsy store, but here’s a link to my new home at

She’s here!!! Mackenzie was born July 23rd at 3.52 am. She’s 8 lbs. 4 oz and 20 inches long. That’s all for now, just wanted to make an update about what was going on.

On Sunday Dan and I went to Marissa’s baby shower. It was tons of fun, and there was lots of yummy foods! Zack, Melissa’s husband took this photo and I absolutely love it, it’s so cute with all of our bellies touching. I also got some sun at the baby shower which was really nice because there isn’t really anywhere that I can just sit outside and read or anything here at home.

Anyways we’ve past the due date, I’m not worried about that at all. Dan keeps calling though to see if I’m in labor yet, he’s needs to learn patience. Mitch (Dan’s brother) and my mom will both be here on Thursday (which is also Dan’s Nana’s birthday), so if she isn’t born before Thursday I wont be upset. I’d rather have family here, since neither of us have any family here now. My mom is leaving tomorrow morning and is driving here from Des Moines, Iowa.

Another thing, so before I posted my Car Seat Cover post my site only had about 300 views total. After that post and all of the comments and what not going on, I’ve had 525 views on that post alone and 1,062 views total. It’s crazy how so many people have viewed my blog, I was hoping that my blog would bring in people for the things that I sew, but that isn’t how it’s been, oh well. I just wanted to get all that out. Sorry it’s been awhile since I’ve made a post, but I’ve just been trying to get things ready around the house. I do have some new things to share, but I don’t have pictures so it will have to wait till later.

Here are our cloth diapers that I’ve been sewing for our little girl. They are pocket diapers, and we have 27 extra smalls all ready to go. These only take me about 30 minutes to sew, and they come along pretty nicely.

I have all of the small already cut out and ready to be sewn, it’s a lot easier to sew them in assembly line form. When I do this, I’ll do about 6 to 9 at a time. Hopefully our little girl doesn’t grow too fast before I get the smalls sewn up.

I should also get to ordering more fabric from and cutting out mediums, but then again she might not need those for awhile.

My favorite diapers are the prints, but they take more time to sew. They are also a little more difficult, due to adding the print outside of the PUL waterproof layer.

This is our new car seat cover, I took apart the original one to make the new one. Instead of creating a pattern (which would have been pretty easy) I just sewed the new fabric over the original pieces and then sewed them all back together. I wish I would have taken pictures as I went, but being pregnant I’ve been absent minded about that sort of stuff.

Here is what the original fabric on the cover looked like. See it’s not very pretty, modern, or even girly for our baby girl due July 14th.

Let me know what you think of the new car seat cover, I would love to know what you think.

Update: Just to let those of you who think that this car seat is an old one, it isn’t. Evenflo makes car seats for low income people and donates them to places that gets them to the people who need them, like me. I’m assuming they use fabric from old styles that they no longer sell. My car seat was made in March of this year, so it is not an old one. Many people have left me comments saying that now the car seat isn’t flame retardant and that I’ve voided my warranty. Because of this, I am going to order a new cover, costing me money, but they will probably just send me another of the same old blue fabric for my little girl. Considering that the doctor is just down the street (a walk away), we wont exactly be in the car very often, and this car seat will be used with a stroller base to get around. Please stop leaving the nasty comments (making me an about to be first time mother very upset), I understand what you are all saying.

Lets see, my trip was good…but it started out bad. I missed both my first and second flights, it was a bummer, I was crying (I blame it on my hormones) and was really upset that I wasn’t going to make it to see my mom at all. I finally arrived, and all was good (I arrived only three hours late).

I had fun doing things with my mom, and getting ready for my baby shower the days before my shower and my birthday (the 17th). The night before my baby shower, my mom, Kaylynn (my cousin), and I made the most amazing sugar cookies ever. I think it was the frosting that I made that made them so good.

The morning of my baby shower and my 25th birthday (May 17th) I got up to take a shower and get ready to go to get some bargains at garage sales. In the shower I found blood clots coming out, and freaked out. We went to the hospital, and I called my two best friends to come to the hospital. Jen took this picture:

Then it was cool that my mom, Kelly, and Jen all got to see the ultrasound when they were checking on the baby. Don’t worry, everything is great with the baby, and after antibiotics I should be fine. I have a doctor appointment tomorrow, to check on my urine levels (there was tons of blood in my urine).

I ended up being an hour and forty-five minutes late for my own baby shower, but that was okay. Everyone who came was excited to see me, and happy that the baby was in good condition. Here are some pictures from the baby shower:

Kelly designed the shower invitations I don’t have a picture of them, but I will take one, they are so amazing. She also did the decorations for the shower, everything was so perfect, even if I was about 2 hours late.

The rest of my trip I took it pretty easy, but I did get to see lots of my friends. And I had a great time being pregnant around my mom. I think she really enjoyed it too, actually I know she enjoyed it. Here is me with my mom the morning that I left back for Seattle:
